The Heights Real Estate Information

Victorian home in The Heights HoustonHomes for sale in The Heights are some of the most unique in the Houston area—many original from the 19th century. Not all properties on the market are character homes, though. There are tons of new-builds that have chic, modern features, but maintain the classic architecture of the rest of the neighborhood.

Homes in The Heights will enchant you with their phenomenal Victorian exteriors, with wrap around porches and wrought iron railings. Rocking chairs and benches can be put out front under the shuttered windows. Neighborhood curb appeal does not get any better than this.

Many heritage homes have been recently renovated to have contemporary amenities and features. Oftentimes, homes have huge, eat-in kitchens with granite countertops and stainless-steel appliances. You can expect larger homes to have wet bars and butler’s pantries that will impress all your dinner guests.

It’s common to find homes with open-concept living spaces, made for entertaining. Interiors typically have sleek, modern designs with neutral color tones that brighten the space. The large windows bring in tons of natural light, making the living rooms feel cheery and bright.

Homes often have large bedrooms and bathrooms with lots of storage space. You can find houses with offices, perfect for professionals who work from home.

Some of the most luxurious properties in The Heights have fantastic backyards with custom concrete pools and marvelous cabanas. Your backyard will become your own private oasis.

Although heritage homes in this community have exceptional modern amenities, they maintain their original character with crown mouldings and wood flooring.

New-builds can be found throughout the neighborhood and typically have contemporary designs that incorporate Victorian character, so homes match the rest of the community.

No matter what type of home you’re looking for, The Heights offers buyers plenty of real estate options.

The Heights Community Living

downtown The Heights Houston TexasThe Heights was developed by O.M. Carter and other investors in the late 1800s to be Houston’s first master-planned neighborhood. Their vision was to create a community with stately Victorian homes, made for people with the most lavish lifestyles. Now, the community is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

This neighborhood is welcoming to families and young-professionals alike. The Heights is in a desirable area, northwest of downtown Houston in the inner loop. Residents have unparallelled access to the wonders of the downtown core.

While downtown offers residents access to brand-name stores and top-rated restaurants and bars, The Heights is filled with boutique shops, funky eateries, and historic architecture.

On the first Saturday of every month, the community hosts a “First Saturday Arts Market” with live music and crafts. You can also find vendors selling plants and artwork at this market. The Heights is the perfect place for antique lovers. There are tons of antique shops peppered throughout the neighborhood selling unique goods of all kinds.

This community is known to be one of Houston’s most walkable. There are plenty of great walkways and trails that run through the neighborhood, giving residents easy access to all the nearby amenities. 19th Street is a local haven for shops, restaurants, and bars.

It’s easy to get outdoors with the neighborhood's multitude of trails and parks. Heights Hike and Bike Trail is a paved, tree-lined pathway that runs through the community. This is a great place to go for a bike ride or a walk where you can enjoy a view of the city.

White Oak Bayou Trail is another fantastic trail that runs along the Buffalo Bayou. You can bike and rollerblade along this scenic, paved path.

There are plenty of parks where children can play sports on green spaces or climb on playgrounds. Milroy Park and Love Park are two local green spaces that are perfect for family getaways.

The Heights has gorgeous homes in an ideal area. This neighborhood will give you the lifestyle of your dreams.
